During my senior year at MSU, I took an English class that taught me how to address multiple literacies in the classroom. Our final project was to create a paper or presentation with a topic of our choice. One of our most important questions of the class was "How do we become flexible teachers of literacies?" I decided to tackle this question by incorporating my experience thus far as a future educator. With the help of some researchers of literacies, I was able to formulate a paper sharing thoughts on how to properly teach a class with diverse literacies. Through my experiences, I began to notice a pattern with students. The ESL learners, economically challenged students, and the students who were not up to par with their reading levels were often neglected. Not necessarily because the teacher did not care, but because she was responsible for a class of thirty other kids as well. In this paper, I was able to elaborate on my experiences as well as reflect on the kind of teacher I want to become.
