Professional Objective: I plan to teach English and history at the secondary level. In addition to assisting academic student groups in furthering their knowledge, teamwork and competitive skills, I am also interested in coaching volleyball and basketball.

One Year Internship Experience:
Fall 2012- Spring 2013: Malow Junior High School, Shelby Twp., MI: 7th Grade English
Developed creative unit plans to challenge and enrich students’ understanding based on district pacing guides for 5 sections of 7th grade English including a mystery, screenplay, and memoir unit
Interlaced comprehension and critical thinking skills through close and critical readings throughout the year
Had sole responsiblity of teaching, grading, and planning for an entire semester
Co-taught and planned with a special education teacher for one hour everyday
Facilitated Parent-Teacher conferences and kept parent contact throughout the year through phone and email
Received training in PowerSchool and Data Director
Participated in monthly staff meetings and Professional Development days where I learned how to communicate and establish relationships with other staff members as well improve classroom settings
Pre-Internship Field Placement:
Fall 2011-Spring 2012: Haslett Middle School, Haslett, MI
Placement included four hours a week observation as well as actively teaching, planning, and working with students in an English classroom.
Summer 2011: Waverly East Intermediate Middle School, Lansing, MI
Placement included ten hours a week for two weeks of observation as well as working with students one-on-one when they needed to catch up on work or if they needed extra help with an assignment.
Professional/Tutoring Experience:
Fall 2012-Spring 2013: Malow Jr. High Static Club leader. I led a club focused on discouraging bullying, improving self esteem, and encouraging the acceptance of others
Fall 2012: Oakland Christian School, Auburn Hills, MI. I was the head coach of a freshman volleyball team. I taught fundamental skills, teamwork, and dedication.
Fall 2011- Spring 2012: MSU-SMEA member and NCTE-SA member
Fall 2008-Spring 2010: I participated in MSU’s Chinese Club where I conversed in Chinese with native Chinese speakers and taught them how to speak and write English.
Fall 2008-Spring 2010: I tutored two ESL students at MSU. They practiced reading, writing, and listening skills with me.
Summer 2009: Waterford, MI. I was a private nanny/tutor for an elementary student. Everyday we worked on reading, writing, and math skills.
Summer 2008: Oakland Christian School, Auburn Hills, MI. I helped run a basketball camp for middle school students. I coached, developed fundamental skills, and taught teamwork skills.
Spring 2008: Through Oakland Christian School, I volunteered to be a leader at the school’s middle school retreat. I chaperoned events, led small group discussions, interacted with students, and planned activities.
